After graduating from Bucknell University in 1972, with a BS in Civil Engineering, Mr. Metzger invested 17 years with an East Coast Fortune 500 Utility. He resigned as Manager of Nuclear Design in 1989, entered Seminary full-time, and graduated, Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Divinity, from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1992. During his Seminary years, Bill supported his family as a part-time consultant, which ultimately led to the establishment of Renaissance Consulting Group, Inc. in 1995. In addition to being President and owner of Renaissance Consulting, Bill is a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists, an Ordained Minister in the United Church of Christ and a licensed Retired Professional Engineer in PA.
As President of Renaissance Consulting Group, Inc., Bill provides consulting services to corporations, non-profits and several area churches, has worked with the PNE Conference and Lutheran Synod on Union dissolution matters and maintains a Pastoral Counseling practice in New Tripoli, PA. Bill's work with businesses centers on Strategic Business Planning, Board Governance, Leadership Development, Ownership transfer and improving performance, all from a 'systems' perspective.
He has worked with a variety of for profit and non-profit companies and organizations in addition to working with Pastors, leaders and congregations both in the role of Intentional Interim Pastor as well as providing pastoral, leadership and congregational consulting.
Bill is currently consulting with Phoebe Ministries' CEO, Governing Board, Executive Team and various Senior and Key Leaders. He assists Phoebe with setting Strategic Direction, Leadership Development, Coaching, Board Governance Improvement, as well as a variety of key organizational initiatives. In addition, he continues to provide consulting to Ondra-Huyett Associates, Inc., assisting with succession planning, leadership development, ownership transfer and business planning. Most recently he served Union UCC, Neffs, PA, as an Intentional Interim consultant.
Bill is a 1992 Charter member and chair of the PNEC Conflict Resource Team, and was instrumental in organizing the Joint Lutheran/UCC Conflict Resource Team, formed in 2001, for which he currently serves as co-chair. He served as the Pastor of St. Peter's Union Church in Lynnville, PA from1997-2000. Bill is Past-President of the Board of the Lehigh County Conference of Churches and previously served on several Phoebe Ministry Boards, Chaired the Phoebe Terrace Board and Chaired Phoebe's Long Range Planning Committee. Bill is a past keynote speaker for the Interim Ministry Training Event sponsored by the NEPS, PNEC and PSEC and has provided strategic planning, visioning and leadership coaching with Church of the Mediator, Forks UCC, Asbury United Methodist, Lutheran Congregational Services, and the York Association of the PCC. Rev. Metzger has also provided numerous seminars and workshops within the PNEC.
Bill resides in New Tripoli, PA with his wife, Janice. They have three adult children, Barbara, Abbey & Daniel, and four grandchildren.
